poetry, prose, all pretty words, image manipulation and layout © 2002 jamila r. nedjadi
tools; this layout was created in photoshop 6.0 and completely coded in notepad (AAAAAAAAAUGH. THE INHUMANITY.) jamila is usually a frontpage 2002 slave, but somehow found herself doing the whole thing raw. FP2002 and i-frames don't like each other that much.
preference; deMUSEd looks best on a 1024x768 screen resoultion or higher, but will hopefully look decent on an 800x600.
fonts; fonts used were arcade and small fonts for the graphic, terminal for the menu and comments, arial (or tahoma or verdana) for the meat of this site.
original image used in layout; from a japanese CG site that apparently isn't up anymore.
version; one point oh. called digital garden for no real reason.
name; deMUSEd was a name that my good friend nix came up with. i had been annoying her for two hours on the phone, complaining that i couldn't come up with a name for my completely revamped and redone site for my pretty words. she came up with "de-mused". i'm not sure if she really thought it was a good idea, or if she just said it to shut me up. "de-mused" changed into "deMUSEd" as soon as i started working on the layout.
nix's concept of deMUSEd was that it described a muse who had been "all used up", or no longer needed. i in turn worked on that idea, making her out to be a muse for hire. when i started writing about her, she came off as a cheap prostitute, a gaudy colored shadow of what she once was. neil gaiman's Calliope in
his graphic novel series, The Sandman inspired this.
other bits of credit; this site is
hosted by devoured.org; visit and
worship.
dedicated; kirisi, my own muse. but no, i don't engage in acts of sexual depravation with her to be inspired. much to kenchan's disappointment. yes, this is dedicated to him too. and nix, because she came up with the title, and we come up with good ideas together.
<mush> and ron. because i sorely wish i could write about you, and come up with something better than GWEE!ness. and just because i'm madly in love with you.
(oh my.) </mush>
past; this site used to be known as
the heartlight, which was inspired by one of d.m. reyes' wonderful
poems.
