do you know what summer's about, to a teenage girl?
it's about sauntering on the simmering sidewalk and walking the walk. it's about being with friends and laughing over things you won't ever laugh at when you're forty something. it's about winking at the guys who stare and sitting at small tables with large glasses of ice tea.
in between the ice cubes, you leave hot orange memories you're too young to keep.
and when you're all done baby, the only thing left to do is look up to the sky and blow a kiss to the flaming sun.
because the summer always
belonged to us, the young girls of yesteryear.
